An important part of the Bismarck Marathon's mission is to support local charities. Preference is given to charities that benefit youth.

2018 application process

2017 Bismarck Marathon charitable organizations:

  • Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Bismarck/Mandan helps children reach their potential through professionally supported one-to-one relationships with area adults.
  • Bismarck Parkinson's Support Group is a branch of the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) which aims to help Parkinson’s patients and their families find a cure for this life-changing disease. The support group was founded in October of 2008 and their mission is to support and educate people with Parkinson’s Disease.
  • Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch helps at-risk children and their families succeed in the name of Christ. A formalized assessment process helps the treatment team, youth and family develop treatment goals for the child while in residential placement. Specialized programming options focused on trauma-informed care, are available for youth, and may include: behavioral/mental health, autism, addiction and sexual responsibility.
  • Ronald McDonald Care Mobile is a mobile dental clinic on wheels, delivers urgently needed dental care to underserved children ages 0 through 21 in their own neighborhoods in the western half of North Dakota.
  • Charles Hall Youth Services serves foster care youth needing to live in a safe, stable and nurturing environment.
  • YMCA Strong Kids campaign allows the YMCA to provide membership and program assistance to kids and families who might not otherwise be able to afford to pay for YMCA services.
  • TR 4 Heart & Soul seeks to improve the quality of life, both physically and emotionally of adults and children with disabilities, learning, speech, and behavioral challenges through the heart and soul of a horse utilizing therapeutic riding

2016 Bismarck Marathon charitable organizations:

  • Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Bismarck/Mandan Helps children reach their potential through professionally supported one-to-one relationships with area adults.
  • Bismarck Library Foundation, Inc. The Library Foundation, Inc. was established in 1975 to support the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library. Our mission is to enrich publicly-funded Library services by raising private funds to enhance collections, resources and facilities.

  • Special Olympics of North DakotaBismarck Provides year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities by giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, talents, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.

  • Team Kaizen The mission of Team Kaizen is to inspire youth to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based running program. Since the program’s start in January, a team of volunteers has been working with Bismarck-Mandan youth to build a healthy fitness routine, while also instilling strong character traits and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Youthworks Youthworks was established in 1979 and has been providing direct services since 1986 in Bismarck and 1991 in Fargo. Offices are located in Bismarck and Fargo and serve the surrounding counties in both North Dakota and Minnesota. Their focus and expertise is in working with teens, parents and young adults under 22 years of age. Most of the services are free and when there is a charge it is based on a family’s ability to pay.

  • Sleepy Hollow Theatre and Arts Park Sleepy Hollow Theatre aims to play a significant role in the welfare and educational growth of our citizens by providing positive opportunities in the arts for young people via training classes, productions and special events.

  • Bismarck Hockey Boosters The primary objective of the Bismarck Hockey Boosters Association is to provide a quality program designed to promote interest and participation in ice hockey.
  • Charles Hall Youth Services Serves foster care youth needing to live in a safe, stable and nurturing environment.
  • Prevent Child Abuse North Dakota Prevent Child Abuse North Dakota is dedicated to strengthening families and preventing child abuse and neglect, particularly in North Dakota.
  • Ronald McDonald Care Mobile The Ronald McDonald Care Moblie, a mobile dental clinic on wheels, delivers urgently needed dental care to underserved children ages 0 through 21 in their own neighborhoods in the western half of North Dakota.

  • Ronald McDonald Care Mobile The Ronald McDonald Care Moblie, a mobile dental clinic on wheels, delivers urgently needed dental care to underserved children ages 0 through 21 in their own neighborhoods in the western half of North Dakota.
