We are giving kids the real Bismarck Marathon race experience!
Kids of ALL ages will finish their race under an arch, just like the one that our other races finish under! Most races will take place inside the Capitol Grounds loop where there is grass to prioritize the safety of the kids.
We have different distances to accommodate kids of all ages.

The littlest runners have a place at the Bismarck Marathon. Sign your kids up for the free Kids Mini Marathon and let them cross the same finish line as everyone else. Space is limited, so grab their spot early.

The Bartlett & West Kids Mini Marathon is a FREE event!
There are two ways to register for the Kids Mini Marathon:
- Online Registration: Opens August 1st
- In-Person Registration: Prior to the race
Race Options
- 2 and under
- 3-4 years old
- 5-6 years old
- 7-8 years old
- 9 and older
The Bartlett & West Kid’s Mini Marathon will take place on Saturday, September 19th at the North Dakota State Capitol Grounds at 12:00 PM.
This schedule is subject to change. The Bismarck Marathon will never change a schedule without notifying its participants.
Parking at the North Dakota State Capitol Grounds is limited and will fill up quickly on race day.
The Bismarck Marathon and officials from the North Dakota State Capitol are working together to create the best parking experience for all runners on race day.
Parking will not be allowed along the main loop of the Capitol Grounds to prioritize runner safety. For more information, please see the parking information page here.
Build Your Sign Station by H.A. Thompson and Sons
Runners are chasing a finish time. Your sign might be what gets them there faster.
The H.A. Thompson & Sons Build Your Sign Station gives spectators of all ages the markers and poster board to make a cheer sign before the race starts.
The location is close enough to the start/finish line that you won’t miss your runner coming through.
