Giving Back

The Bismarck Marathon is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. One major component of the our mission is to support local charities, specifically charities that benefit youth, health, and wellness.

Each year we give multiple grants to different organizations. For more information on volunteers go here.

In 2023, we made a donation of $55,125 to 28 local charitable organizations. Our goal is to provide the community with a health-focused event that benefits local charities, businesses, and residents.

  • BIO Girls is a program that focuses on ending the self-esteem crisis in adolescent girls across North Dakota.
  • CPABLE aims to better the lives of children with cerebral palsy and similar childhood onset neurological conditions by providing financial assistance.
  • Heaven’s Helpers is a soup kitchen that is set up as a restaurant where people come in, seat themselves in one of our booths and one of our volunteers will take their order and bring them their food.
  • Missouri Valley Family YMCA puts Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
  • Ronald McDonald Care Mobile brings dental, medical, and healthcare resources to underserved communities in the Bismarck community.
  • RoughRider Ambucs provides independence and mobility for individuals with disabilities through scholarships for therapists & Amtrak therapeutic tricycles.
  • Youthworks helps ensure all youth have a safe place to belong and be heard.

  • Dakota Children’s Advocacy Center provides safe, family-friendly environments that promote hope, health, and healing for traumatized children and families.
  • Dreams in Motion provides competitive and recreational adaptive sports programs critical to the health and well-being of youth and adults with mobility challenges or visual impairments.
  • Missouri Valley Family YMCA puts Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
  • Ronald McDonald Care Mobile brings dental, medical, and healthcare resources to underserved communities in the Bismarck community.
  • Special Olympics ND – Bismarck Team Kaizen provides year-round sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
  • UTTC Theodore Jamerson Elementary School provides educational opportunities for Native American students from Pre-K through sixth grade.

  • Designer Genes strengthens opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome and those who support them to learn, earn, and belong.
  • United Tribes Technical College is a private tribal land-grant community college in Bismarck, North Dakota.
  • Bis-Man Mentor Squad provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better — forever.

  • Bismarck Parks and Rec District vision is to be the leader and premier provider of public parks, programs, facilities and leisure services
  • Furry Friends Rockin Rescue’s mission is rescue, foster, adopt, educate.

  • Team Kaizen The mission of Team Kaizen is to inspire youth to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based running program. Since the program’s start in January, a team of volunteers has been working with Bismarck-Mandan youth to build a healthy fitness routine, while also instilling strong character traits and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Youthworks Youthworks was established in 1979 and has been providing direct services since 1986 in Bismarck and 1991 in Fargo. Offices are located in Bismarck and Fargo and serve the surrounding counties in both North Dakota and Minnesota. Their focus and expertise is in working with teens, parents and young adults under 22 years of age. Most of the services are free and when there is a charge it is based on a family’s ability to pay.
