BISMARCK MARATHON ANNOUNCES DATE CHANGE FOR 2025

The race celebrates its 44th year as ND’s longest-running marathon.

The Bismarck Marathon has announced a change to its 2025 schedule, with the event now taking place exclusively on Saturday, September 20.

Originally planned for September 20 and 21, this adjustment streamlines the race weekend, ensuring a more exciting and efficient experience for participants, volunteers and spectators. The Full Marathon, Half Marathon and Relay races will now be held on Saturday morning instead of Sunday.

The decision to move all races to Saturday was made with several key factors in mind:

  • A greater sense of community, with more runners and spectators coming together at the same time to celebrate race day.
  • Maximized safety and runner experience resources, including improved road signage, access to volunteers, and logistical coordination.
  • Eliminating potential conflicts with religious services and community commitments on Sunday.

Runners already registered for Sunday races will be automatically transitioned to Saturday’s schedule, with no further action required. If the change causes any inconvenience, participants are encouraged to contact the Guest Service team.

The Bismarck Marathon is a premier running event in North Dakota, attracting participants from across the region and beyond. The event supports local charities, promoting health, wellness and community engagement.
