SPECTATORS! This is for you!

Come out on Saturday, September 19 and help us create an incredible race-day atmosphere for runners throughout Bismarck.

Whether youโ€™re cheering on family, friends or thousands of runners youโ€™ve never met, here are a few things to know:

๐Ÿ“ Pick your cheering spot!
Check out the course map and find a location along the route to make some noise and encourage runners as they pass.

๐Ÿ‘ Bring the energy!
Signs, cowbells, costumes and plenty of cheering are encouraged! A little extra energy from the sidelines can go a long way, especially during those later miles.

๐Ÿค Make a meeting plan.
Before the race begins, decide where youโ€™ll reconnect with your runner afterward. Runnerโ€™s Alley at the North Dakota State Capitol Grounds, the ND Heritage Center or another predetermined location are great options.

๐Ÿšซ Keep the course clear.
Please stay off the course and be mindful of runners, volunteers and race officials. Spectators should never cross the course when runners are approaching.

๐Ÿš The entire course is a No-Drone Zone.
Unless approved in advance, drones are prohibited anywhere along the course, including above runners and spectators.

Most importantly, SHOW UP & GET LOUD! ๐ŸŽ‰ Every cheer, sign and high-five helps make 26.2 miles feel a little shorter.

Weโ€™ll see you along the course on September 19! ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Runner Spotlight: Meet Phil โค๏ธ

What started as an escape from pain has turned into a journey toward joy, determination and the people he loves most.

September 20 - the day after this yearโ€™s Bismarck Marathon - marks exactly eight years since Philโ€™s wife passed away from cancer. He began running in 2020 as a way to cope, but over time, his reason for running began to change.

โ€œI began to run away from less and started running towards so much more.โ€

This year marks Philโ€™s fourth Bismarck Marathon weekend, and heโ€™ll take on the 10K alongside his 74-year-old mother, her 77-year-old husband, and other family and friends. Their goal isnโ€™t a certain time or pace, itโ€™s to start together and finish together.

Because, as Phil says, itโ€™s all about the journey. ๐Ÿ’™

Weโ€™re proud to share stories like Philโ€™s through our Runner Spotlight Series, presented by Dakota Community Bank & Trust. Weโ€™re rooting for you Phil! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ
